Rådhusparken in Jönköping

Situated east of the Town Hall, Rådhusparken offers a charming space with plenty of benches and grassy areas, perfect for a picnic or a quiet break. Nearby, you’ll also find Braheparken and Hamnparken, creating a cozy and green oasis in the city center.

Sculptures

The park features several statues and sculptures:

  • Springbrunn (The Fountain): Located at the center of the park, this large fountain was designed by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander and Wilhelm Hoffman in Stockholm and manufactured by Bolinders. It was donated to Jönköping by "Bolaget för reglering av brännvinsutskänkningen i Jönköping."
  • Harpolekaren och hans son Gunnar (The Fiddler and His Son Gunnar): A statue sculpted by Stig Blomberg in 1947.
  • Viktor Rydberg Bust: Created by John Börjeson in 1898.
  • Johan Printz Sculpture: Sculpted by Axel Wallenberg in 1965.

History

Rådhusparken was designed by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander and established in 1871 as part of Jönköping’s urban renewal after the demolition of Jönköping Castle. The park takes its name from Jönköping’s Town Hall, which was built in the 1860s as an elementary school and became the Town Hall in 1914.
